About the university
The Viadrina lies 80 kilometres to the east of Berlin on the Oder river, directly at and across the German-Polish border. This lends it a bridging function which is more than spatial. The university is oriented towards the task of shaping a European and global future and facing the challenges of societal change. Questions of social, digital and ecological transformation, as well as of communication, conflict, migration and borders form the heart of teaching and research at the Viadrina. A particular emphasis is placed on Eastern Europe. With its special expertise on this region, the Viadrina contributes to academic perspectives on Europe 'from the East'. In this way, the university supports successful communication between East and West along with the 'European idea'.
The three faculties offer classic degrees such as the state examination in law as well as BAs and MAs in business administration, Internationale Betriebswirtschaftslehre, and the social sciences and humanities. Graduates of the degrees law and politics, law and business, and European studies are interdisciplinarily trained and contribute knowledge from multiple degree programmes to the workplace. Several degree programmes combine practice and academic studies, such as the dual degree programmes in auditing and business taxation (from 2025) and continuing education degrees in the fields of compliance and conflict management. At the European New School of Digital Studies, students - the majority of them international - study the challenges and opportunities of the digital future.
As a result of the large number of degree programmes offered in English or in collaboration with universities in other countries, around 35 % of the students have a degree from outside of Germany and see their future career in Germany.
The Career Center of the European University Viadrina is a competent partner for employers in all areas of recruitment. It provides a multitude of ways to directly contact interesting students: webinars, workshops, presentations and more.
