About the university
With over 12,000 students, the Hochschule für Wirtschaft und Recht Berlin (HWR Berlin) is one of the largest state universities of applied sciences - with a distinct practical focus, intensive and diverse research, high quality standards and a strongly international orientation.
The course portfolio includes business, administration, law, security management and engineering in around 60 degree programmes and continuing education programmes at bachelor's, master's and MBA level. The HWR Berlin is the largest provider of dual study programmes and cooperates with over 700 companies. It promotes the transfer of knowledge and technology and supports start-up activities with the Startup Incubator Berlin.
The university maintains 179 active partnerships with universities on all continents and is a member of the “UAS7 - Alliance for Excellence” university network.
The HWR Berlin is a leader in Germany in terms of the internationalisation of business administration courses and occupies top positions in the nationwide ranking of the CHE Centre for Higher Education Development. In a nationwide survey by DEUTSCHLAND TEST, the university repeatedly emerged as the “TOP Business School” in the area of continuing education.
The HWR Berlin supports the initiative of the German Rectors' Conference “Weltoffene Hochschulen - Gegen Fremdenfeindlichkeit” (Open-minded Universities - Against Xenophobia).
