About the university
The Technische Universität Dresden (TU Dresden) is one of the eleven German Universities of Excellence and thus one of the top universities in Germany and Europe: strong in research, first-class in terms of the diversity and quality of its courses, and well-networked with the cultural sphere, business and society. As a modern comprehensive university with 18 faculties, it offers a broad academic spectrum paralleled by few universities in Germany. It is the largest university in Saxony and dates back to the Technische Bildungsanstalt Dresden, founded in 1828, making it one of the oldest technical and academic educational institutions in Germany.
The TU Dresden's large campus family is made up of around 30,000 students, 4,864 employees with internal funding - including 510 professors - and over 3,000 with external funding.
An outstanding characteristic of the TU Dresden is its dynamic development. This process has persisted over many years and will continue into the future. As a “synergistic university”, the TU Dresden cooperates closely with non-university research institutions, the cultural world, business and society. In 2009, the TU Dresden created a research network of prominent academic and cultural partners that is unique in Germany: DRESDEN-concept (Dresden Research and Education Synergies for the Development of Excellence and Novelty).
The successful development of the TU Dresden is also reflected in an increase in external funding. In the 2003 budget, the amount exceeded the 100 million euro mark for the first time; in 2017, the TU Dresden raised almost 270 million euros of external funding.
Stellenticket Technische Universität Dresden is run in collaboration with the Career Service. Employers seeking staff are guaranteed an optimal combination of the diverse options available at the TU Dresden.
