About the university
Founded in 1831 as the Höhere Gewerbeschule, the former Universität Hannover has been known as Leibniz University Hannover since 2006 and today has around 27,000 students.
With 86 degree programmes, the Leibniz University Hannover offers a broad spectrum of study options. The courses range from natural sciences and engineering to humanities and social sciences, teacher training, economics and law. In research, interdisciplinary and international focal points in biomedicine, production technology, quantum optics and gravitational physics, optical technologies and scientific reflection are being continuously expanded. Through numerous international connections, exchange programmes and collaborations as well as events with companies, the university also offers a wide range of services in the areas of internationalisation and transfer to industry. The Leibniz University Hannover is successfully represented in the German federal and state government Excellence Strategy with its own Clusters of Excellence, PhoenixD and QuantumFrontiers, as well as with the shared Cluster of Excellence Hearing4all (together with the Carl von Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg and the Medizinische Hochschule Hannover).
Stellenticket Leibniz Universität Hannover is run in collaboration with the Career Service of the Centre for Quality Enhancement in Teaching and Learning. The Career Service promotes the employability of students and the exchange with professional practice during their studies. Students are supported in planning their professional development from the beginning of their studies to the transition to their career.
