Research Assistant - salary grade E13 TV-L Berliner Hochschulen - 1st qualification period (PhD candidate)

part-time employment may be possible

Working field:

Collaboration in one or more research projects on the field of tension between energy, comfort and health in buildings, especially in the field of ventilation and air conditioning.

Teaching: Conducting courses and exercises in the focal areas of the department, totaling 4 credit hours per week (SWS); Supervising bachelor and master theses
Administration: Participation in the general organization of the department, independent project management, involvement in project acquisition
Research: Focus areas - Room air flows (experimental and/or numerical flow simulations)

Requirements:

Essential:

  • Successfully completed scientific university studies (diploma, master's degree, or equivalent) in the field of building services engineering, energy and process engineering, mechanical engineering, physical engineering, or similar
  • Seeking an individual with in-depth knowledge at a scientific level in at least one of the following investigation methods related to air handling aspects:
    ° CFD simulations
    ° Experimental test execution
  • Excellent PC skills (hardware and software)
  • Team and organizational skills
  • The ability to teach in German and/or in English is required; willingness to acquire the respective missing language skills (teaching the courses in German)

Desirable:

  • Good knowledge in the areas of:
    ° Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning technology
    ° Fluid dynamics
    ° Thermodynamics
    ° Measurement and control engineering
    ° Data acquisition and analysis
    ° Energetic evaluation of systems/components in building services engineering
  • Professional experience outside the academic sector
  • Good programming skills (ideally Python)
  • Flexibility; interest in new challenges
